- Strategic Context
This project aligns with the strategic objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. It contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16: “Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.”
The project “Transparency Now” aims to facilitate improvements in the prevention, reporting, and prosecution of corruption, as well as the seizure and confiscation of assets linked to such corruption in Morocco.
The key sub-objective of this project is to improve mechanisms and modalities to strengthen the detection and investigation of cross-border corruption and illicit financial flows resulting from corruption.
- Overall Objective
This project aims to facilitate improvements in the prevention, reporting, and repression of corruption and to contribute to greater democratic accountability of public institutions.
- Specific Objectives
- Strengthen mechanisms and modalities for preventing corruption and encouraging its reporting;
- Induce systemic change to address gaps in accountability and anti-corruption efforts in Morocco;
- Empower civil society actors, investigative journalists, and other stakeholders to demand greater accountability and integrity through increased visibility and strategic advocacy;
- Identify legal, institutional, and enforcement gaps that hinder the achievement of expected objectives in combating corruption and recovering corruption-related assets.
