About us

Transparency Maroc (TM), an association recognized as being of public utility by Decree No. 2.09.391 of June 11, 2009, was created on January 6, 1996 by a group of citizens to address an alarming situation of corruption and a lack of transparency, ethics, and good governance. It is a non-governmental organization that adheres to the principles set out in the charter of Transparency International, an international organization dedicated to fighting corruption worldwide.

Since its creation, Transparency Maroc has framed its anti-corruption efforts within the broader democratic movement working toward good governance, the development of citizenship, the promotion of the rule of law, and the establishment of a National Integrity System.

Mission

In general, the Association seeks, through the various projects it implements and the commissions it has established, to study the phenomenon of corruption, better understand it, and inform and guide different stakeholders in their analyses and actions. Its mission is broadly aimed at combating corruption in all its forms and thereby contributing to the establishment of:

  • A National Integrity System;
  • A democratic environment that ensures respect for individual rights and dignity;
  • Balanced economic and social development;
  • Fair distribution of the benefits of economic and social development.

Objectives

To carry out its mission effectively and ensure that its fight against corruption succeeds, Transparency Maroc is committed to:

  • Conducting and disseminating studies aimed at better understanding the mechanisms of corruption;
  • Informing public opinion about the various manifestations of corruption through the establishment of a specialized information system capable of ensuring ongoing monitoring;
  • Engaging professional, political, and other target groups in promoting ethics, good governance, and transparency;
  • Strengthening the commitment to combating political corruption within government circles;
  • Providing legal assistance and guidance to individuals who are witnesses or victims of corruption;
  • Involving society in the fight against corruption through partnerships and the implementation of simple, credible, and effective mechanisms.
